The injection molding quality control system at Osborne Industries guarantees the RTM or RIM products we manufacture and deliver to our customers are of the highest quality and meet or exceed their intended expectations in the field. Osborne maintains an ISO-certified quality management system for the design, development, and manufacture of products.
Inspection Before and During Molding
Whether you rely on our fabricated, composite molds for Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), or utilize steel, nickel, or aluminum molds for Reaction Injection Molding (RIM), you can expect thorough inspections of all tooling prior to their use. First article inspections are performed to verify part features prior to full production. Once full production begins, inspections of tooling are completed by our mold craftsmen and molding operators. Mold surfaces are cleaned and polished, and any necessary repairs are made on a continual basis.
In addition to mold inspections, resin formulations utilized in the RTM or RIM molding process are tested and verified in our material testing laboratory using industry-standard testing protocols and equipment.
All parts are visually inspected immediately upon unloading of the mold. Once verified, they are passed onto our finishing and assembly area for any post-molding activities and inspection activities that include:
- Physical and mechanical property testing
- Utilizing “Go/No-Go” gauges for dimensions
- Part sampling from pre-defined sample size
Finished parts undergo final inspection by our Quality System Manager or shipping personnel prior to any shipment. All parts are visually inspected and are carefully and compactly packaged to ensure their safe arrival to our customers at minimum cost. Special packaging requirements or final inspections required by customer specifications are also completed in this final process.
